The Tribal Council is the governing body and has legislative and other responsibilities for the Pueblo of Jemez in its exercise of its inherent sovereign powers. The Tribal Council resolutions are formal documents of the Tribal Council’s executive decisions on issues. The Tribal Council approves the organization structure, establishment of and funding for departments, programs and services to best serve the needs of the community and its members and safeguard its resources and its sovereignty.
As a sovereign nation the Pueblo of Jemez Tribal Council is responsible for providing leadership for the Tribal government, including enacting Tribal law and overseeing implementation of all programs and services provided to Tribal Members.
The Tribal Council members are made up of past leaders who served as the Governor of the Pueblo of Jemez.
