Vision
The Vision of the Jemez Pueblo Injury Prevention Program is to decrease injuries related to motor vehicle crashes, seat belt use, falls in the elderly, sports and playground injuries, and home safety. This will be accomplished through educational materials and providing safety equipment to Tribal Members.
Mission
The Mission of the Jemez Pueblo Injury Prevention Program is to improve the health and welfare of the people residing in the Pueblo of Jemez by reducing unintentional injuries.
Intent
Objectives includes increasing the utilization of seat belts by conducting roadside observations and child restraints by conducting car seat clinics. The Jemez Injury Prevention and Safety Coalition comprised of all local provider agencies with injury prevention as a focus will assist in program planning and evaluations and share resources to help achieve the project’s goals and objectives.
Services Offered by Department
Providing injury prevention education to all age groups through: presentations and classes in all four schools: Walatowa Charter High; Walatowa Head Start, San Diego Riverside and Jemez Day School.
Falls prevention and home safety education and Home Safety Assessments via referral and a program at the Jemez Pueblo Senior Center.
Providing child safety seats and education on proper installation.
Environmental modifications such as grabs bars, safety rails, night lights, and smoke detectors.
