VACANCY NOTICE #11-35

 
 
TITLE:                      Planning & Development Director, Regular Full-time
DEPARTMENT:          Administration, Pueblo of Jemez
SALARY:                   DOQ
 
 
JOB SUMMARY:  The position will coordinate and conduct, as directed, the implementation of the Pueblo of Jemez’s planning efforts, including short and long-term forecasting, planning and infrastructure, roads, tribal buildings tribal projects and economic and community developments, provide expertise in planning-related issues, respond to inquiries from administration staff, community, and governors regarding all proposals and active projects.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Minimum of four year college degree required in community planning, economic development, public administration or related field.
  • Minimum of three years work experience in a planning position or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through tribe’s insurance carrier.
  • Position is subject to a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Background Check.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures relevant to small community and tribal rural planning.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize specialized computer software such as GIS and AutoCad.
  • Able to read construction documents and specifications, site plans, and conduct site inspections.
  • Ability to conduct relevant research pertaining to planning issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, prepare effective reports and present to tribal staff or other groups as required.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate planning meetings and represent the Pueblo among other governmental agencies, regulatory agencies, community groups, businesses, developers, contractors and the public.
  • Ability to adhere to all compliance and confidential guidelines.
